The DJI Phantom 3 4K is an earlier Phantom-series camera drone with an integrated 4K camera and three-axis mechanical gimbal. It shares much of the Phantom 3 platform design but should not be confused with the Phantom 3 Standard or Advanced. The 4K model is most relevant today to buyers considering a low-cost used aircraft or looking for an older DJI platform to maintain.
Camera and video
DJI lists a Sony EXMOR 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor with 12.4 MP effective pixels. The lens has a 94-degree field of view and 20 mm-equivalent focal length. The camera records UHD video, including 3840 × 2160 at up to 30 fps, with additional 2.7K and Full HD modes. Still photos reach 4000 × 3000 pixels and can be saved as JPEG or DNG. A three-axis gimbal stabilizes the camera during flight.
Aircraft and operation
DJI lists the aircraft at 1,280 g including battery and propellers. The platform uses GPS and downward vision positioning, with a maximum speed of 16 m/s in ATTI mode. As with other Phantom 3 models, flight-time figures should be treated as original controlled-test values rather than expectations for a used battery. Check the exact regional manual and firmware support before operating.
Used-market checks
Inspect the battery for swelling, check remaining capacity and confirm that the charger is genuine and functioning. Test gimbal initialization, camera focus, video recording, GPS acquisition, compass status and remote-controller link. Confirm that the required app can still be installed and used on your phone or tablet. Replacement batteries, propellers and repair parts may be more difficult to source than for current DJI models.
