DJI / DRONE PROFILE
DJI Neo 2
Explore the available technical information for this aircraft, including camera capabilities, flight performance and manufacturer-specific specifications.

The DJI Neo 2 is a compact follow-me camera drone with gesture control, subject tracking, a 2-axis gimbal and upgraded obstacle sensing. It is designed for quick personal videos, outdoor activities and beginner-friendly flights. This guide is based on DJI’s published specifications, not hands-on testing.
DJI Neo 2 Review and Buying Guide
Camera and stabilisation
Neo 2 uses a 1/2-inch CMOS sensor and a 2-axis mechanical gimbal. DJI lists horizontal 4K recording up to 60fps and 4K/100fps slow-motion recording in supported control modes, plus vertical 2.7K video. Built-in storage is 49 GB and there is no microSD card slot. The 2-axis gimbal and electronic stabilisation combination is intended for compact social and activity footage.
Flight and weight
DJI lists 151 g without the Neo 2 Digital Transceiver and 160 g with it. Maximum flight time is approximately 19 minutes, or about 17 minutes with propeller guards, under DJI’s test conditions. Maximum flight distance is 7 km in a controlled test and wind resistance is 10.7 m/s. These are not guarantees of usable recording time.
Obstacle sensing and tracking
Neo 2 adds an omnidirectional monocular vision system, a downward infrared sensing system and forward-facing LiDAR. DJI describes obstacle sensing as supporting tracking and safer navigation in appropriate environments. Performance depends on lighting, surface texture, speed and obstacles; thin wires and other difficult-to-detect objects remain hazards. Keep the aircraft in a safe open area and supervise tracking flights.
Key specifications
- Weight: 151 g without digital transceiver; 160 g with it
- Camera: 1/2-inch CMOS, 12 MP
- Video: 4K/60fps; 4K/100fps slow motion in supported modes; vertical 2.7K
- Gimbal: 2-axis mechanical
- Internal storage: 49 GB; no microSD slot
- Maximum flight time: approx. 19 minutes
- Maximum flight distance: 7 km (DJI controlled test)
- Maximum horizontal speed: 12 m/s (Sport mode)
- Wind resistance: 10.7 m/s
- Sensing: omnidirectional monocular vision, downward infrared and forward LiDAR
Who should consider it?
Neo 2 suits people who want a small self-filming drone with gesture control, tracking and more complete sensing than the original Neo. It is not a replacement for a larger camera drone when low-light image quality, interchangeable lenses or professional post-production are priorities.
Advantages and limitations
- Advantages: very light; gesture control; 4K/60 and supported 4K/100 slow motion; 2-axis gimbal; 49 GB internal storage; omnidirectional sensing.
- Limitations: small sensor; no microSD card slot; short battery endurance compared with larger camera drones; sensing is not infallible.
IGIDRONE verdict
DJI Neo 2 should be chosen by matching its real capabilities, package and support options to your flying needs. Treat DJI’s maximum figures as controlled-test results, check local flight rules, and confirm the exact bundle and current availability before purchasing.
